Preparing students from around the world to serve in the world… Preparing students from around the world to serve in the world has been the mission of The International University (IU) for the past 25 years. During this quarter of a century we have been privileged to serve students from over 100 different nations! IU is based on the principle that a complete education prepares students not only for life, but for eternity as well! Many students study the Bible for the first time at IU. Some indicate they have never held a Bible in their hands before; some ask questions such as “What is sin?” Most of IU’s students are not Christians and have never heard about a daily walk with Christ. Through interaction with faculty, through academic Bible classes, through opportunities to attend Chapel and church, IU opens many spiritual eyes to the joys and responsibilities of being a follower of Christ. IU directs young people to the true answers to questions such as: where did I come from? What is the purpose of life? Where do I go from here? Over the years since the founding of the school by veteran missionary, Otis Gatewood, many have become Christians and many seeds have been planted in the hearts of young people. IU not only provides an academic, professional education in the fields of Business Administration and Diplomatic Studies on the Bachelor’s and Master’s level. In addition, IU has a strong charitable component and waives thousands of dollars annually through tuition-waiver scholarships for needy, worthy students. IU serves refugees who have come to Austria with almost nothing, students from developing and Least Developed Countries, and also students whose families are well-situated. Our service is patterned on the example of Christ, who not only provided spiritual food, but was also concerned about the physical needs of people as well. Through the influence of Christ, the ideals of peace and tolerance, understanding and acceptance are conveyed and the atmosphere is one of a large international family where artificial barriers often erected between peoples of different cultures and religions disappear. Since 1993 IU has operated a program in Kiev, Ukraine, called International Christian University. IU also serves students in Odessa, Ukraine, in an International Business Institute and has developed partnerships with universities in Armenia, India, and the U.K. providing its programs in these locations.
